Trust and transparency were high on Paul Zientek’s wish list when he started researching options for his self-managed superannuation fund.

“We didn’t feel our needs fit the business model of the super manager anymore, so we made the switch and set up a portion of our holdings with Six Park,” Paul says.

“I wanted to use ETFs and the cost structure made sense to me; my previous provider was probably charging 1.2% for the funds being managed, but provided much less for that fee than what I get from Six Park.

“One of the things I was looking for was transparency in reporting – there was no reporting previously, I had to chase the manager for insight. Now it’s all generated for me, I can see everything from the fees I pay to the performance I achieve and I can update my risk profile if anything were to change.

“It works very well and I really like the transparency.”

Trusting in Six Park’s expertise to choose ETFs

Paul works as a consultant specialising in helping start-up companies scale up production of their products, but has also spent the past few years managing his own investments. He was connected to Six Park co-CEO Pat Garrett on LinkedIn and said that, while he was aware of Six Park, he didn’t think too much about it until it came time to review his SMSF.

“ETFs weren’t something I wanted to spend time researching – it’s about knowing what you do well and what others do better,” Paul says.

“I needed to allocate some of our funds to ETFs and I didn’t have time to study and work out which ones to choose or how to set that up. The quality of the investment committee gave me a lot of confidence that Six Park could do that well for me.”

Paul said the process of setting up his account had been straightforward.

“I wound up my previous ETF holdings and just went through the online process,” he says. “I had a couple of questions along the way and I always got great assistance. Trust was a big factor for us – I did look around to see who else was around, but I was happy to try Six Park and see how it went.”

Performing above expectations

Paul started investing with Six Park in early 2020 and says the experience has been overwhelmingly positive.

“I’m more than happy with the portfolio performance – part of that’s good timing because that’s what the market’s doing; it’ll no doubt pull back at some point but it’s been terrific and above my expectations.”

Paul is a keen triathlete and, while he’s more injury-prone than he once was, he’s still enjoying them. “My wife does a lot of cycling, and I run and swim as well. It keeps us active.”
